Admit it. The kids have been asking for spaghetti tacos for months. But you’ve been reluctant to a) serve it and b) admit your recipes are inspired by reruns of iCarly on Nickelodean. Much to your relief, the NY Times has come to the rescue by reporting on what’s become the hottest kiddie cuisine in the nation.
According to the Times, spaghetti tacos were created by iCarly’s Spencer, (Carly’s eccentric older brother), who is seen in an early episode making dinner of red-sauce-coated pasta stuffed into hard taco shells. “What could be more unappealing?” the Times asks. Not this dish! It’s now been in a total of six episodes.
But it gets better (or worse, depending on your view). The Times says the dish has “now become part of American children’s cuisine fostering a legion of imitators and improvisers across the country. Spurred on by reruns, Internet traffic, slumber parties and simple old-fashioned word of mouth among children, spaghetti tacos are all the rage. Especially if you’re less than 5 feet tall and live with your mother.”
So here is the recipe, straight from iCarly’s website:
- Get taco shells.
- Get spaghetti (with meat sauce).
- Get a BIG spoon.
- Use the BIG spoon to put spaghetti into taco shells.
- Eat.
