Go ahead, have a side of fries with your trip to Disney World. Everyone else apparently does, making Orlando, Florida tops in the nation for the number of fast-food restaurants. According to The Daily Beast, Orlando tops the nation with 34 Burger King’s, 24 Taco Bell’s, 22 Pizza Hut’s, 19 KFC’s, 7 Chili’s, 9 Panera Bread’s and 6 Outbacks. That’s a lot of fast food. The Orlando Sentinel reports that “Orlando has 463 of them, or 196.3 for every 100,000 people, with Subway being the most ubiquitous.” Wondering who else made the list? Louisville, Ky., came in second, while Richmond, Va. finished in third. To see the complete list, click here.

Fast Food Goes Gourmet

Wendy’s menu just got a bit classier. Starting in summer, the fast-food chain shifted its focus on appealing more toward foodies by incorporating “real” ingredients onto Wendy’s menus. The first step was introducing a new a line of salads (Apple Pecan Chicken, for example). The next step? A re-invention of its french fries. The days of the plain, pasty yellow fry is over, at least for this franchise. Wendy’s is now making the famed side order with Russett potatoes – naturally cut, complete with skin, and a sprinkling of sea salt to finish. The new fry will be slimmer, yet crisper, than its predecessor. Wendy’s hopes to appeal to a growing market of foodies looking for more natural ingredients in their meals (Food University can definitely appreciate that mentality!).

For more on the new fries, check out the full story here.
